Masonry Field Testing Technician

A Masonry Field Testing Technician is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to perform sample preparation and testing of masonry construction-related materials—including materials for brick, structural clay tile, concrete masonry units, prisms, mortars, and grouts—in the field.

*Note - If you are ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certified you will be exempt from performing C1019 of the performance exam. You must bring your ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certification card to the testing session.

REGISTRATION FEES

For those individuals who are currently certified in Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 and who are certifying for the first time or recertifying. Fee includes ACI study guide, classroom review session, demonstrations, lunch on first day, written and performance exams.

For those individuals who are NOT currently certified in Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 and who are certifying for the first time or recertifying. Fee includes ACI study guide, classroom review session, demonstrations, lunch on first day, written and performance exams.

For those individuals who failed their written exam on their first testing attempt. Fee includes written exam. (no study guide)

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements:

The one-hour written examination is closed-book and consists of approximately 60 multiple-choice questions. There are between eight and 12 questions on each of the ASTM test methods and practices. To pass the written examination, BOTH of the following conditions must be met:

The performance examination is also closed-book and requires actual demonstration of select field procedures described in ASTM test methods C140/C140M, C780, and C1019. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform (or describe, where allowed) required steps for each procedure.

Recertification is necessary every five years and requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY ACT

Individuals requesting special accommodations enabling them to participate in ACI certification examinations must submit a letter from their primary physician to the Las Vegas Chapter ACI describing the physical challenge and providing a proposed solution (i.e. more time, a reader for the questions, physical assistance, etc.).  The Las Vegas Chapter ACI will forward the request and physician’s letter to ACI for direction.  Since the notification and formulation of appropriate accommodations takes time, candidates must make their request and submit the physician letter to the Las Vegas Chapter ACI at least three weeks prior to a certification examination session to formulate appropriate accommodations, arrange for their availability at the session, and accept the registration.

There is absolutely no photography, audio, or video recording allowed at the review or testing sessions. Please be advised that photocopying ACI education materials violates ACI’s copyright and that photocopied materials brought to educational sessions will be confiscated.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Participants may cancel or transfer their registration to another session by emailing: [email protected] no later than 7 business days before the testing session.

• Cancellations will receive a refund of the registration fee minus a $100 cancellation fee.
• Transfers will be issued a coupon code for the registration fee less a $30 transfer fee which is valid for one year from the date of issuance. This code may be used for any future certification or training.
• Name substitutions are allowed up to 7 days prior to the testing session by emailing [email protected]
